Update 5/29/2023 7:00 am -- Tawas Bay has
received no measurable precipitation for the past 21 days, and there is
no precipitation predicted for the next 8 days. The
NWS COOP Weather Station
in East Tawas reports that as of May 29, monthly precipitation has been
59%
(-1.78") below average and the temperature has been about 4% (-2.1°F) below
average; annual precipitation has been 3% (+0.40") above the long-term
average and the annual temperature has been about 9% (+3.1°F) above average. Monthly precipitation for
the
Lake Huron-Michigan Basin as of May 27, has been 1.63" or
40% (-1.08") below average. As of
May 27, the
average Lake Huron surface water temperature is 45.1°F compared to
44.9°F last year and an average of 45.6°F. As of 6:30 am EDT, the
NDBC weather buoy located 43 NM east of Oscoda, MI reports that the
air temperature is 52.3°F, the water temperature is 47.3°F, the wind
is ESE at 4 mph and the wave height is 0.3 ft. The GLERL weather buoy
located 4 miles east of Pt. AuGres reports an air temperature of 57.6°F
and
the wind is SE at 4 mph.

* Lake Huron water levels- As of 5/26/23: 4" above the 4/26/23
level; 3" below the 5/26/22 level; 7"
above the average for May; 26" below the 2020 average high
for May and 38" above the 1964 average low for May. The level is
projected to be 2" higher by 6/26/23. The water level is currently
29.6 inches below it's July 2020 all time high water point.
