Update 12/5/2023- 11:00 am EST --The
NWS COOP Weather Station
in East Tawas reports that through December 5, monthly precipitation has
been 35% (+0.13) above average and the temperature has been 9% (+2.9°F)
above average; annual precipitation has been 3% (-.89") below the long-term
average and the annual temperature has been 3% (+1.4°F) above average.
Annual snowfall as of December 5 has been 3.4" (-15%) below average
and the current snow depth
is 0". Monthly precipitation for
the
Lake Huron-Michigan Basin for November was 1.51", or
46% (-1.29") below average. As of December 4, basin precipitation
has been .31", or at the average. As of December 4, the average Lake
Huron surface water temperature is 44.0°F compared to 43.6°F last year
and an average of 42.9°F. As of December 3, the
Lake Huron ice cover is .22% compared to .06% last year.
* Lake Huron water levels- As of 12/1/23: 3" below the 11/1/23
level; 1" below the 12/1/22 level; 5" above the average for
December;
31" below the 1986 average high for December and 34" above the
2012
average low for December. The level is projected to be the 3" lower by
1/1/24. The water level is currently 38.3 inches below it's July
2020 all time high water point.
