Update 2/24/2021 @ 10:30 am-- The NWS COOP Weather Station in East Tawas reports that as of February 24, monthly precipitation was 32% (-.44") below average and the average temperature was 16% (-3.6°) below average; annual precipitation has been 34% (-1.13") below average and the temperature has been 7% (+1.5°) above average. Snowfall since July 1 has been 25.5" compared to an average to date of 40.2". The current snow depth is 8". Precipitation for the Lake Huron-Michigan Basin through February 22 has been 49% (-.64") below average. As of February 23, the average Lake Huron surface temperature is 34.0°F compared to 34.6°F last year and a long-term average of 33.4°F. As of February 23, the ice cover on Lake Huron is 27.66% compared to 15.53% last year.

* Lake Huron water levels-- As of February 19, 2021: 4" below the January 19, 2021 level; 10" below the February 19, 2020 level; 27" above the average for February; 11" below the 2020 all time average high for February; and 55" above the 1964 all time average low for February. The level is projected to be unchanged by March 19, 2021.  The Lake Huron water level is currently 18.6 inches below it's July 2020 high water point.
