Update 8/7/2022- 7:00 am -- The
NWS COOP Weather Station
in East Tawas reports that monthly precipitation through August 7 has
been
113% (+.70") above
the long-term average and the temperature has been slightly above
the long-term average; annual precipitation
has been 11% (-2.08") below the long-term average and the temperature has
been 2% (-1.1°F) below average. Monthly precipitation for
the
Lake Huron-Michigan Basin
through August 5 has been 76% (+.39") above the long-term average. As of
August 6, the
average Lake Huron surface water temperature is 67.6°F compared to
68.7°F last year and an average of 68.4°F. As of 6:40 am the
weather buoy located 37 miles Northeast of Alpena on Lake Huron reports an air temperature of
68.4°F, a water temperature of 66.4°F, an ESE wind at 4 mph and a wave
height of 1.0 ft. The buoy located 49 miles East of Oscoda reports an
air temperature of 70.9°F, a water temperature of 68.9°F, a S wind at
11 mph and a wave height of 1.0 ft. The buoy located 4 miles east of Point AuGres reports
an air temperature of 74.3°F, a SSW wind at 7 mph and a wave
height of 1.0 ft.

* Lake Huron water levels-- As of August 5, 2022: same
level as July 5, 2022; 7" below the August 5, 2021 level; 9" above the
average for August; 24" below the 2020 all time average high for
August;
and 41" above the 1964 all time average low for August. The level is
projected to decrease by 2" as of September 5, 2022. The Lake Huron water
level is currently 24.8 inches below it's July 2020 all time high water point.
